Statesboro - Robert Owens, 61, of Statesboro died Wednesday at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah after a short illness. He was a native of Bulloch County and a member of Rosehill Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge 61.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Catherine Owens of Statesboro; six daughters, Mrs. Irene DeLoach of Portal, Mrs. Minnie Campbell of Clearwater, Fla., and Mrs. Kathleen Edwards, Mrs. Shirley Ann Allen, Mrs. Mildred Smith and Mrs. Mamie Lanier, all of Plainfield, N.J.; two sons, Bobby and James Owens, both of Plainfield; 30 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First African Baptist Church in Statesboro, with burial in Eastside Cemetery in Statesboro. Payton's Mortuary of Statesboro is in charge.
