Columbus, NC - Ruth McAbee Denton, 78, of Columbus died August 21, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital. A native of Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Boyd and Corrie Barnette McAbee and widow of George William Denton. She was a homemaker and member of Morgan Chapel Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Billy Denton (Darlene) of Mill Spring and Bobby Denton of Columbus; two daughters, Wanda Wilson (Pat) of Sunny View and Carolyn Shehan (Jessie Mack) of Landrum; two brothers, Vadie McAbee of Greer and Ralph McAbee of Boiling Springs; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and her special dog Snowball.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:30pm Sunday at Petty Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 4:00pm Sunday at Polk Memorial Gardens conducted by Mr. Phil Scoggins.
The family is at the home of Carolyn Shehan, 161 Lanier Drive, Landrum.
