He was born in Monticello, Kentucky on July 31, 1942, the son of Raymond and Zonie Beaty Adkins. Both parents preceded him in death.
He married Mary Lou Adkins, who survives.
He is also survived by 3 children James Jeffrey of Straughn, Indiana, Larry Wayne and Christopher Ryan, both of New Castle, Indiana; a godson Daniel Vance Bertram of New Castle, Indiana; 3 sisters Nova Tinch, Rosa Tinch and Stella Capps, all of Jamestown Tennessee; 6 brothers Kenneth of Jamestown, Tennessee, Hollis and Collins, both of Monticello, Kentucky, Mac of Dwight, Illinois, Kermit of Shirley, Indiana, and Don of New Castle, Indiana; 5
grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death is a brother Franklin D.
He retired from Allegheny Ludlum in 1997 after 25 years of service.
He was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Spiceland, the Masonic Lodge 91, where he was a 32nd degree Mason, the Scottish Rite of Indianapolis and the Untied Steelworkers Union.
Services were held Tuesday, February 9, 1999 at 2 P.M. in the funeral home with Brother Larry Delon officiating. Burial was in Green Hills Memory Gardens. A Masonic service was held Monday, February 8, 1999 at 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
