David Wallace, who Had Lived Here For 40 Years, Dies At Daughter's Home
After a residence of nearly fourty years in Yolo County, David Wallace died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Dinsdale, at 8 o'clock Sunday morning. The pioneer was 91 years old. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon from the home of John Dinsdale three miles east of Woodland.
Mr. Wallace was a native of Zenia, Green county, Ohio, and was reared in the stat of Indiana. During the civil war period he moved to Missouri with his wife who was Miss Sopphia Greer before thier marriage in Indiana. The family came to California in 1874, passing on through to Oregon, but soon moved back again to this state and Yolo county, where Mr. Wallace took up land just east of this city.
His long residence in Yoolo has been marked with the typical pioneer spirit--hard work for the benefit of properity Behind him Mr. Wallace leaves an eartly career will spent and one of which his children may be proud.
Mr. Wallace leaves three daughters and one son The are Mrs. John Dinsdale of Woodland, Mrs. Owen Dinsdale of Woodland, Mrs. J. H. Lewis of Heridan, Wyoming, and William Wallace of Lakeview, Oregon. Charles Wallace, well known in Woodland is a grandson.
