COURIER-JOURNAL OBITUARY - 08/16/2011 - SHELBY, SAM E. SR., 94, was born on August 4, 1917 in Duck River, TN and died on August 14, 2011 in Nashville, TN. He was a resident of Louisville from 1955-1995. He served as vice president for the Federal Chemical Company (later Kaiser Chemical) in Louisville and was a member of Westport Road Church of Christ. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy B. Shelby of Danville, VA. He is survived by his sons, Sam Shelby, Jr. of Nashville and Gary Shelby of Louisville; and two grandsons. The life celebration service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, with interment at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday 9 a.m. until the time of service at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, 9090 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN (615) 646-9292.
