W. "Bert" Morgan, 80, of Independence, MO, passed away at Rosewood on June 15, 2003, after a lengthy illness. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Speaks Suburban Chapel; burial Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 17. The family suggests contributions to Northland Hospice.

Bert was born February 20, 1923, in Oran, MO. He spent his childhood in Oklahoma. During the depression era, he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in India. After discharge from the Army, he came to the Kansas City area, where he was employed by the Ford Motor Company in Claycomo, as a spray painter. He retired there in 1984, after 30 years of service. His parents, Samuel J. and Viola Morgan, preceded Bert in death.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Violet Morgan, of the home; daughters, Sharon Sexson of Gladstone, MO, and Betty Jane Wiviott of Vernon Hills, IL; two sons, Ronald Sexson and Richard Sexson of Independence, MO; three brothers, Lloyd Dean Morgan of Oklahoma City, OK, Jack Morgan of Grandview, MO, and Samuel J. Morgan , Jr. of Camdenton, MO; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several in- laws, nieces and nephews. (Arrangements: Speaks Suburban Chapel)
