Obituary
"Guy W. Smith, 67, was found dead in bed at his home three miles north west of Robinson at the old Kirk farm about fifteen o'clock this morning. He had been dead for several hours.
"Mr. Smith had been in good health, having picked apples all day yesterday retiring about his usual time of seven o'clock and did not complain except that he was 'unduly' tired.
"Early this morning his wife awoke and tried to awaken her husband and discovered that he was dead, apparently for several hours as the warmth had left his body.
"Coroner L. P. Sloan of Oblong was called and held an inquiry into the death at the home about eight o'clock this morning. Dr. Sloan stated that the cause of death was unknown, probably apoplexy.
"Funeral services will be held at Kirk Chapel tomorrow afternoon at two thirty o'clock.
"Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Ralph Knapp, of Evansville, and a son, Harry Smith of this city."
Obituary Books, Robinson Twp Library, Robinson, IL
His wife was Laura B. Mace; they were married 10 Oct 1893 in Crawford Co, IL
