LEFT ONLY ONE FRIEND.
Death of August Kuge, Who Had Lived
Here Since 1869.
August Kuge, formerly in the brewing business in the southern part of the city near the old Tivoli garden and a resident of Kansas City since 1869, died last yesterday afternoon of old age at the city hospital. Aside from one brother, Adolph Kuge, who lives at Harburg-on-the-Elbe, Germany, August Kuge's death is mourned only one man - Jacob Landfried of 1625 Olive street.
Mr. Landfried had known Mr. Kuge since each had worked in a brewery in St. Louis years ago. Mr. Landfried carried on all of his friend's correspondence and aided him in many ways. Some years ago, August Kuge came to his friend and ordered him to draw up a will, saying that he desired to bequeath to him his home and other property.
It is believed that "Miser Kuge," as his neighbors called him, left a considerable sum buried in the cellar at his little home place. Certain it is that he had no faith in savings banks and was somewhat peculiar in other ways. He was 82 years od age.
The funeral will be held Monday morning at 9 o'clock from Wagner's undertaking rooms. His body will be followed to its last resting place in Union cemetery by his one true friend in life.
