CORLEY, Judge James Davis, Sr., 86, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011. Jim was born in Smuteye, AL on May 25, 1925 to Jim and Zell Davis Corley. He was the oldest of 8 children. He was raised in Glenwood, AL and later moved to Montgomery as a young man and then to Prattville, AL where he resided for over 40 years. Jim worked as Southeastern Director for the Stanback Company for over 20 years. He was active in Alabama politics and served as Chairman of the Board of Appeals for Industrial Relations for many years. He campaigned for Governors Folsom and Lurleen and George Wallace. He served as Autauga County Probate Judge for 16 years. He also owned and operated A1A Sand Gravel. He was a faithful member of Community Church in Prattville for 20 years.

He is survived by his children, Sue (Cecil) Wyatt, Sybil (Jerry) Howell, Sylvia(Glenn) Chaffin, Jimmy (Teresa) Corley and John Corley; sisters, Sara Kidd and Ferry (L.B.) Alford; brother, Tommy (Pollyanne) Corley; sister-in-law, Jeanette Corley; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; special friends; faithful dog, Bobo. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Smith Corley; son, Claude Corley; brothers, Howard Corley, Paul Corley, Luscious Corley and John H. Corley.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Ridout's with Pastor Greg Melvin of Safe Harbor Outreach Center officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens.
