Connerville - Services for Charles "Ruggie" Underwood, 64, of Tishomingo were held Wednesday Sept. 10, 2005 at the Temple of God Church in Connerville. Rev. Chad Kirk officiating. Interment followed in the Connerville Cemetery with military honors provided by the Chickasaw Nation Honor Guard. The son of the late John and Lillie Enshockey Underwood, he was born April 20, 1941, and died Sept. 9, 2005, in Ardmore.
He attended school in Pontotoc and at the Sequoyah Indian School in Tahlequah. He served in the U.S. Army during the peace time between the Korean and Vietnam wars and worked for many years as a brick mason in construction.
He married the former Velda Ann Freeman in Connerville on July 6, 2002. She survives the home. Other survivors include a daughter, Tina Wisinger of Tishomingo' two sons, Guy Freeman of Oklahoma City and John Freeman of Ardmore; three sisters, Betty Hook and Lottie Futishea, both of Tishomingo, and Vera Moore of Bromide; a brother, Carlton Underwood of Pontotoc and a half-sister, Nellie Folsom of Ada; eight grandchildren and one great-child.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Cletus Underwood.
Guy Freeman, John Freeman, Britain Freeman, Joshua Carroll, Danny Hook, Douglas Hook and Michael Hook served as pallbearers.
Services were directed by Clark Funeral Service.
