Obituary for Jay Earl Turner, The Billings Gazette, Billings, Montana, September 22, 1957:

Greybull, Wyo. - Funeral services were held for Jay E. Turner, retired Burlington station agent, Wednesday afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Greybull. The Rev. Jack E. Anderson officiated.

Mr. Turner was found dead Monday afternoon along the railroad tracks at the edge of Greybull. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

Mrs. Williams sang "Rock of Ages" and Child of a King," accompanied by Mrs. George Wright.

Mr. Turner was born July 13, 1889, at Nickerson, Kan. He was educated in Kansas and Oklahoma and later attended telegapher's school in Indiana.

On June 7, 1911, he was married to Hazel Fern Cole at Brazine(sic), Kan. They lived in Oklahoma and in Texas until 1917 when they moved to Kirby. In 1919 they moved to Worland and a year later to Greybull.

He was a member of the Cloud Peak Masonic Lodge in Worland, Modern Woodmen of the World and Railroad Telegraphers Assn.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel; three sons, Olin Turner of Nashville, Tenn., Warren Turner fo Billings, Mont., Robert Turner of Casper; a daughter, Mrs. Jonathan Davis of Emblem; a sister in Kansas and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Earl Reilly, Frank Copp, R. L. McCarly, Frank Cortez, C. H. Durkee, and Merl Gipson. Honorary pallbearers were L. Leveraus, L. L. Berger, Leo Winters and Tom Weir.

Burial was at the Hillside Cemetery under the direction of the Atwood Mortuary.
