He was the son of of the late Tasker and Margaret Schaffer and was born in Luzerne County, but resided in Mahanoy City since a young man. He served three terms in the Legislature.
To survive, he leaves the following brothers, Henry of Cleveland, Ohio and David of Slatington, three sisters, Mrs. Borrell Ingram of Cleveland; Mrs. Mary Donnelly of Philadelphia and Mrs. Cyrus Kline of Frackville, also survive.
He will be buried from the home of his sister, Mrs. Cyrus Kline of N. Seventh Street, Frackville, on Wednesday afternoon with interment in the Odd Fellows' Cemetery of Mahanoy City. Undertaker Clifford of Mahanoy City is in charge.
