Kacper Rzeszowski, 2, his mother, Izabela Rzeszowska, 30, sister, Kinga Rzeszowska, 5, and grandfather, Marek Gartski, 55, who lived with the family, were victims in a fatal family stabbing that left a total of 6 people dead. The families were residence of Poland but lived in Saint Helier, Jersey. Those among the dead also included friends of the family, Marta De La Haye, 34, and her daughter Julia, 5. They were staying at the house and the mother was also originally from Poland. The two families were having a barbecue when the attack happended.
Hundreds of mourners attended a mass held for the victims. There were songs sung in Polish and English.
The suspect was identified as Damian Rzeszowski, 30, husband to Izabela and father of her two children. After stabbing his family and the second family to death, he turned the knife on himself attempting to take his own life but failed in doing so. He was treated at a hospital for his stab wounds and undergone surgery. After his recovery he was arrested on 6 counts of murder. It is believed he did this because of his marriage breaking down.
