Troy Cox, mechanic, of the Piney Forest section of Williamsburg County, died at 12:39 a.m. Thursday (May 19, 1955) in a Charleston hospital where he had been a patient for two weeks. He had been ill for two months.
Funeral services will be held Friday at the graveside in Piney Forest Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Andrew Poston and the Rev. Henry Duncan. Burial will be directed by Mayer Funeral Home.
Mr. Cox as born in the Piney Forest section and was a son of Mrs. Ida Ethridge Cox and the late Willie Cox. He attended the schols of that area and had worked as a mechanic for the Peoples Chevrolet Co. and Hemingway Motor Co. as well as several garages in Kingstree.
Surviving are his widow, the former Miss Herman Bouchett of near Andrews; three sons, Sonny Cox, Bubber Cox, and Woody Cox; three brothers, Ellie D. Cox of Chester, Willie Cox Jr. of Andrews, and Eddie Cox of Pawleys Island; five sisters, Miss Mazie Cox, Mrs. Andrew Goude, Mrs. Arthur Ward, all of Andrews, and Mrs. Faithful Jones and Mrs. Charlie Yarborough, both of Georgetown.
