Mr. Cox was born in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Willie Cox and Mrs. Ida Ethridge Cox. He was a member of Andrews Church of God.
Surviving are: his widow, Mr. Ruth Bethea Swails Cox; a son, Davis William Cox; two daughters, Mrs. Blondell Welch and Mrs. Barbara Wilders; a brother, Eddie Cox; three sisters, Mrs. Fannie Yarborough, Mrs. Lizzie Ward and Mrs. Hazel Marlowe; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
