CHAMPION TOWNSHIP — Robert R. Bailey Sr., 77, of Champion Township, went home to be with the Lord at 12:55 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2008, at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 6, 1930, in Oak Hill, W.Va., the son of the late Theodore R. and Lois A. Ashley Bailey.


Bob served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He attended the Grace Baptist Church in Champion. He was a 30-year member of the Warren Police Auxiliary, where he had served as chief. Bob enjoyed golf and bingo.


He was preceded in death April 5, 2002, by his wife Betty Jo Lawhorn Bailey, whom he married Sept. 11, 1954. One brother, James Bailey, also preceded in death. Bob is survived by one daughter, Sharon K. (Damon) Canzonetta of Warren; one son, Robert R. (Kara) Bailey Jr. of Lordstown; six grandchildren, Eric (Lakrista) Gargano, Starr Bailey, Adam Gargano, Gary Shaffer and Kyle and Ashlyn Bailey; six great-grandchildren, Nathan, Laina and Talia Gargano, Cody Zimmerman and Naressa and Naryah Stella; and one brother, Ted R. Bailey of Oak Hill, W.Va.


Arrangements are being handled by Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel in Warren, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Bill Sprague officiating. Burial will be at Champion Township Cemetery.
