Manitowoc Herald Times, Tues. Dec. 11, 1993, p. A2:3. Ethel M. Abler, age 77, of St. Nazianz, died Sunday evening, Dec. 12, 1993, at St. Mary’s Home, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 1993, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, St. Nazianz, with burial in the church cemetery. She was born Oct. 18, 1916, at St. Cloud WI, daughter of the late Gottlieb and Emma Picard Bittner. She attended St. Mary’s Springs High School in Fond du Lac and was formerly employed as a secretary for the John Miller Company, St. Nazianz. She married Stanley Abler Sept. 2, 1935, at St. Cloud WI. She was a member of St. Gregory’s Parish where she served on many various committees and donated many hours of service. Survivors include her husband, Stanley; three sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Mary Abler, Mt. Pleasant MI, Michael and Bridget Abler, Alexandria VA, Timothy and Kimberly Abler, Milwaukee; three daughters and sons-in-law, Audrey and Clark Cooley, Mequon, Mary Catherine and Louis Meribela, Mishawaka IN, Clare and Richard Karr, Mequon; one brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Estelle Bittner, Menomonee Falls; 11 grandchildren. Friends may call at St. Gregory’s Church on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time service. The Christianson-Deja Funeral Home is serving the family.
