Dorothy Hankins Bush, 83, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Baptist Hospital, East in Memphis, Tenn. She was born in Ecru on July 27, 1928, to Andrew Jackson and Quillie Kinglsey Hankins. She attended Algoma High School and graduated from Saltillo High School. Earlier in life, she worked as a bookkeeper. She was a former member of the Women's Auxiliary in Pontotoc. She was a long-time member of the First Assembly of God in Pontotoc and then later East Heights Assembly of God in Tupelo.

Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Joel G. Bush (Jill) of Clarksville, Tenn. and Richard D. Bush (Jane) of Bartlett, Tenn; four grandchildren, Joel G. Bush Jr. (Dana) of Jackson, Tenn., Heath O'Gwin Bush (Karen) of Nashville, Tenn., Emily Bush (Eric Snyder) of Nashville, Tenn. and Sabrina M. Rushton (David) of Lakeland, Tenn.; one step-grandaughter, Elizabeth Halford of Bartlett; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Geraldine Hankins Davis (Rev. Franklin Davis) and Mary Ruth Bass both of Tupelo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Gordon Bush in 2007; and one brother, Marvin Hankins.

Memorials may be made to the First Assembly of God in Pontotoc.
