The parentage of James Glenn is uncertain. The 1850 census reflects him as a laborer in the McElroy household with no other Glenn’s living in Greene or adjoining counties. Neither his death record nor military roll reflects parent’s names.

He married Mary Joan Sanders about 1852. The 1900 census reflects that ten children were born of that union, four of whom were still living at that time. Three of the living, John, George and Frank, were in his 1900 household. His wife was also present in 1900, but he is listed as widower at his death.

Mr. Glenn honorably served as a Private in Company C, 1st Indiana Heavy Artillery during the Civil War. More specific information has not yet been found.
