Rena 'Rennie' Nail was born November 12, 1899 in Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory (now Oklahoma), daughter of Edward J. Nail (1872- ) and Beulah Mae Diffey (1881-1940).

The 1900 Federal Census for Township 6, Indian Territory (Choctaw Nation) shows Rennie Nail, an Indian, age 6 months, born November 1899 in Indian Territory; living with her father, Edward J. Nail, an Indian and a landlord, age 27, born September 1872 in Indian Territory; and his wife, Beulah, white, age 18, born October 1891 in Texas. The census shows that Edward and Beulah had been married for three years and had given birth to two children. Also living with them was Rennie's brother, Robert W. Nail, an Indian, age 1, born September 1898, in Indian Territory.

Rennie's father, Edward J. Nail, age 29, registered with the Five Civilized Tribes on September 25, 1902 as being Choctaw by Blood. His Census Card number was 3553 and his Dawes number was 10071. At the same time, Edward's three children, Robert W., age 4; Rennie, age 3; and Edward L., age 1; also were registered on Census Card number 3553. Robert was given Dawes number 10072; Rennie was given Dawes number 10073; abd Edward was given Dawes number 10074.

The 1920 Federal Census for Speairs, Oklahoma (Bryan County) shows Rennie Nail, age 20, born in Oklahoma; living with her father, Edward J. Nail, a farmer, age 46, born in Oklahoma; and his wife, Beulah, age 38, born in Texas. Also living in the household were Rennie's siblings: Leslie E. Nail, age 17; Alice E. Nail, age 15; and Zulu K. Nail, age 9; all born in Oklahoma.

On July 25, 1921 in Bryan County, Oklahoma, Rennie married Valine T. Downs who was born June 27, 1899 in Texas, son of John Walter Downs (1870-1949) and Orpha Hall (1874-1959).

The 1930 Federal Census for Hereford, Texas (Deaf Smith County) shows Rennie Downs, age 29, born in Oklahoma; and her husband, V. T. Downs, a garage manager, age 30, born in Oklahoma. Living with them were their two children: Valine Downs Jr., age 5, born in Oklahoma; and Walter R. Downs, age 0, born in Texas.

Rennie died December 21, 1954 in Bryan County, Oklahoma and was buried in Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma (Bryan County). Valine died November 8, 1988 in Phoenix, Arizona (Maricopa County) and was buried in Highland Cemetery beside Rennie.
