our "pound puppy" woodrow was the love of my life. rescued from the city pound in 1991 at approx 3 yrs old, he was destined for a galveston research lab the very next day. he never complained, was lost and found more times than i care to remember, survived with the help of his guardian angel the 1994 flood in harris county and gave his love to his family unconditionally. a lover not a fighter, woodrow was deaf, almost blind, and suffering from serious heart problems, but never forgot how we smelled or how to wag his tail. much soul searching, prayers for an alternative to the inevitable and tears when none was found, found us at our little boy's vet office holding him, kissing him, whispering softly in his ears how much we loved him, and would miss him, and would never forget him. with a short breath, and his silent yet unmistakable words that it was okay for us to let him go, he was asleep. he joined the others over "the rainbow bridge" and we are certain he is waiting for us there...
