Mrs. George L Tupper, one of the worthy Pioneer residents of Sheboygan county died on Wednesday morning, Jan 20, 1915, at her home near Marshfield, Wis, after a long illness of tuberculosis, age 72 years 6 months, 28 days. The deceased whose maiden name was Sarah M White, was born in Mendeu, Monroe County, NY on June 22, 1842. She came with her parents, Mr & Mrs R B White to Sheboygan Co, Wis. in 1855 and settled in the Town of Sheboygan Falls. In 1859 she was united in marriage to Mr. Tupper who survives her. Ten children were born to them, three of whom preceded her in death after having families of their own. The surviving children are: Julian M of Dysart, Iowa; George W of Pittsburgh, Pa; Barton L of Oakfield, WI; Eugene of Eau Claire, WI; Mrs Clement Kelahofer of Medford, WI; Mrs Roscoe George of Menominee, WI and Sylvester L Tupper of Marshfield, WI . There are also 10 grandchildren
Mrs Tupper was not only a loving and devoted wife and mother, but a kind neighbor, ever ready to tend a helping hand to aid those in need. In fact she was a conscientious Christian woman, highly cateemed by all who knew her and she will be sadly missed.
Mr and Mrs Tupper who had spent the greater part of their lives in the Town of Sheboygan Falls, retired from the farm some years ago and came to the Falls to reside. On Dec 15, 1913 they moved to Marshfield where they had purchased a lot and built a new house, thinking the climate away from Lake Michigan would be more conductive to Mrs Tupper's health. During her last sickness she was confined to the bed about two weeks and her daughter Mrs. Kelahofer, had been with her for over a week when the end came.
A short service was conducted at the home at Marshfield by the Rev. O Hillman. The remains arrived here Thursday evening accompanied by Mr Tupper and Mr & Mrs Kelahofer, and were taken to the home of Elmer Tupper on Dye Avenue where the funeral was held on Friday afternoon. The Rev Robert Pratt, of the Baptist Church officiating. Interment was made in the Farmin cemetery, on the Dye Road.
The pall bearers were the three nephews of Mr Tupper, Arthur, Clarence and Edward and on grandson, Clayton Tupper. Mr & mrs Kelabofer of Medford, and Mr & Mrs Eugene Tupper of Eau Claire attended the funeral at Sheboygan Falls. Mr George Tupper spent a few days with relatives here and on Tuesday morning returned to his home at Marshfield.
