DOERNBACH, JR., FREDERICK 87 - of Absecon, passed away on Saturday, September 10th, at home where he had been under the care of family and Hospice. Fred was born and raised in Egg Harbor. He served his country in World War II, was a Charter Member of Reformation Lutheran Church of Absecon, a 32 degree Master Mason with Trinity Lodge # 79, a member of the American Legion Post #58 of Absecon, a member of the Carpenters Union #623, a 50 year Member of ARRL- Radio Amateur Organization and the last president of the Apple Pie Hill Amateur Radio Club. He enjoyed fishing, amateur radio, camping and traveling with his grandchildren. Fred was loved by many and will be in their hearts forever.He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alice (Muskett of Absecon), a son Frederick, III, a Daughter Sue Altieri of Hagerstown, Maryland, two grandchildren: Ashley Jay and Alice Louise, a sister Dorothy Kitz of Sewell, a sister Sue Corbett of Virginia and his best friend, "Little Brother", Frank DeVito.Funeral Services will be held at the Reformation Lutheran Church in Absecon located at the corner of Biscayne Ave. and Route 9, on Wednesday, September 14. There will be a viewing at 10:00AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00AM which will include a Masonic Service. Interment will follow in the Egg Harbor City Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a memorial donation be made to the Reformation Lutheran Church of Absecon. Arrangements by Lowenstein Funeral Home, Smithville.
