Civil War Soldier. Served in the 2nd United States Infantry. Only son to survive childhood of prominent New York City banker William Kidd Sr. He "fell while gallantly performing his duty in command of his Company at the 2nd Battle of Bull Run Virginia on the 30 Aug 1862 aged 19 years 2 mo & 21 days". He was buried on the battlefield under the observation of an Army surgeon but was exhumed under a flag of truce at the order of his brother-in-law, who travelled to Virginia to claim the body. His remains were returned to his hometown to be buried at Mount Hope under the Kidd family monument.
