Elvira Shattuc was born December 12, 1874, in the city of Kipton, Ohio, and departed this life, June 28, 1950, in her home in Kensington, Kans., at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 16 days.
..At the age of five, accompanied by her father, C. W. Shattuc, she moved to Pratt, Kansas.
..In 1889 she was married to Charlie Hainline and to this union 7 children were born, Charles, Jr., Clarence, Earnie, Iva, Annis, Ray and Earl. Earl preceded her in death at the age of 7, on April 19, 1913.
..Elvira Hainline was married to Henry Shipley of Cedar, Kans. They lived in Kensington until his death, November 13, 1943.
..Friends and neighbors will long remember her fond love for flowers. She believed in giving flowers to the living. Many are the bouquets she regularly brought with her to church and other occasions, also sharing with various shut-ins and friends.
..Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Assembly of God church with Stohlemeyer in charge. Interment was in Olive Branch cemetery.
