Josephine was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Mathilda Skinner Morrison and was born in Vinton county, Ohio. She married Thomas Spurgeon in Perry county Ohio and he died in a railway accident. She then married to Knight Plummer Hickman.

My mom and I placed flowers on their grave in the Iliff Cemetery. It was small, we were actually putting flowers on her great grandfather George B. Robinson, looked forward at the scenery and noticed Josie and Knight were right behind him.
