Mrs. Rose Beard, 89, widow of Marion Beard, died Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Agnes Berry in Ephratah. She had been ill some time.
Mrs. Beard was born March 26, 1856 at Summit, N. Y., and had been a resident of the Town of Ephratah for 44 years. She was a member of the Ephratah Reformed church. Following the death of her husband, she was named postmistress to succeed him.. She held the office several years.
The survivors are four sons, Chauncey of Milford, Morgan of Cobleskill, Albert and Ashley of Ephratah; two daughters, Mrs. Agnes Berry of Ephratah and Mrs. Pauline Adamsen of Utica; 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the home of her son, Ashley Beard, in Ephratah. The Rev. Norman Thomas, pastor of St. John's Reformed church will officiate. Burial will be made in the Ephratah cemetery.
