Mrs. Joann Claxton, 71 of Soperton, died Wednesday, September 7, 2011. Mrs. Claxton was born in Montgomery County and was preceded in death by her parents, George and Vera Mae Burns Coleman; two sisters, Catherine Barrs and Louise Gowen; and two brothers, Elwyn "Shotgun" Coleman and George Coleman. She was a homemaker and a member of Tarrytown Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Claxton; a son and daughter-in-law, George and Jennifer Claxton, of Vidalia; a daughter, Linda Gail Grinstead of Soperton; five grandchildren, Candace M. Claxton, Samantha L. Grinstead, Stephanie L. Grinstead, Zack C. Claxton, and Steven R. Grinstead.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 10 in Tarrytown Baptist Church. Burial will be in Tarrytown Cemetery.
