Ethel A. Rusch, age 77, a resident of the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center, died on Monday afternoon, Nov. 3, 2008, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
She was born on Aug. 19, 1931, in the town of Newton, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Siegfried F. and Elsie C. (Kolb) Haupt. Ethel attended St. John School in Newtonburg and was a graduate of Valders High School, class of 1949. On April 22, 1950, she married Verlin G. Rusch at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on May 7, 1971. Ethel was employed as a payroll clerk at the Mirro Aluminum Boat Plant in Manitowoc until its closing. She also was employed as a waitress at Mel's Surf & Turf and Arts 151 Club for many years. Ethel was a member of the Haupt family Red Hatters and was a devoted Chicago Bear fan.

She was preceded in death by a daughter: Annette, on Jan. 24, 1951; a son: Steven, on Dec. 7, 1986; a sister and brother-in-law: Ruth and Darrel Sanger; a brother: Hubert Haupt; a sister-in-law: Marjorie Brandel; and two brothers-in-law: Bud Liermann and Raymond Rusch.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Nicholas Maglietto, with burial at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, town of Kossuth.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, from 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, until the time of service at 11 a.m.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
