Maxine Snider, 84, of Ottumwa died Sunday, November 23, 2008 at the Vista Woods Care Center. Graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 28, 2008 at the West Liberty Cemetery near Montezuma. Visitation will be held at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma on Friday, beginning at 12:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pickwick Church of Christ in Ottumwa. Holland-Coble Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Maxine was born the daughter of Fay and Cecile Tish Snider on July 31, 1924 near Montezuma Iowa. She was a 1941 graduate of the Montezuma High School. She worked at Beams Bakery, County Home, Tete Hardens Restaurant and Smith Grocery Store before receiving her limited teaching certificate from William Penn in 1946. She than received her standard teaching certificate from William Penn in 1950. Maxine taught at the Farson and New Sharon schools before receiving her B.S, Degree in 1956 from Drake. She also taught in Stratford before receiving her M.A. Degree from N. E. Missouri State in 1964. She then moved to Ottumwa where she taught for thirty one years before retiring in 1989. Maxine was an active member of the Pickwick Church of Christ.
Maxine is survived by her brother; nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind several grand nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother and his wife, Raymond (Doris) Snider and a niece, Karla Snider.
