Silvester J. Hillyer, 89, died Friday, April 7, at Bax Butte General Hosptial. He was bom June 8, 1910, in Banner, Wyo. His parents were Charles George and Etta Bell (Surrena) Hillyer. As an Infant, the family moved to Big Horn and the vicinity of Buffalo and Sheridan, Wyo. until he was nine-years old. The family then moved to Utica, N.Y. until he was 12-years old. At that time, they returned to the Mid West Oil Fields in Wyoming, They lived in Edgarton, Wyo. where he graduated from high school in 1931, and received hls four-year college degree in 1934. That same year he went to work for Montana Dakota Utilities Company in Conrad, Mont. On Sept 5, 1937, he married Lela Inize Loyer in Billings, Mont. In 1938, they moved to Valier, Mont., where he was an office manager of MDU. Their two daughters were born while they lived in in Valier. The family moved to Affiance in 1943. He worked for the C.B. & Q. and later the Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring as an engineer. He also was self-employed as a plumber. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Shriners, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Blue Lodge all of Alliance and RSVP. His survivors include his wife Lela, two daughter and spouses, Verna and Don Hanneman of Riverdale and Linda and Earl Tucker of Alliance; grandchildren, Carol Hanneman of Grand Island, Kerry Hanneman of Omaha, Terry and Lynn Tucker of Kaycee, Wyo., Robin and Kirk Rickman of Elyria. Ohio, and Ryan Tucker of Alliance; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two sisters, Agnes Van Noy of Carmel, Calif, and Alberta "Bertie" Lund of Sheridan, Wyo. His parents, one brother and one sister preceded him in death. Memorial services will be Tuesday, April 11, at the United Methodist Church in Alllance.
