Son of Thomas Taylor and Ann Westwood, both of Yorkshire, England. Husband of Almeda Lancaster, the daughter of Sterling Lancaster and Amelia Tate. They were married 01 Sept 1864 in Calaveras, and Almeda died in 1881. Secondly, Edwin was the first husband of Alice Charlotte Doe of Poverty Hill, Tuolumne, the daughter of John Amos Doe of Massachusetts and Harriet Sabin of Vermont. They were married 13 May 1885 in San Francisco. After Edwin died in 1913 Alice married Andrew Courtland Nobles.

The death certificate for Edwin Taylor listed his mother as Mary Ann Pinder of England, which contradicts the above info. Also the records show that Thomas and Alice Taylor filed for divorce in 1910 and that she and Andrew Courtland Nobles lived together from the time of the divorce.
