Albert was born on the island of Karmøy (Vik farm) to Ole Johan Johannessen and Gjertrud Helene Torbjørnsdtr. He came to America about 1902 and settled in South Dakota. He married Olga Vig and was the father of three sons. He died in a cave-in at the Marble Gulch gravel pit, while working while working on a road improvement project for the county.
