Services for Eileen Booker Tinney, 94, of Lubbock will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, in the Bowman Chapel of First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Resthaven. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home. Mrs. Tinney passed away on Friday, Sept. 9th.

She was born on Sept. 17, 1916, in Mount Calm in Hill County, Texas. She graduated from Lubbock High School and received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Texas Tech University. She was an educator for over 30 years in the Lubbock Independent School District, teaching home economics and homebound students in secondary schools.

Mrs. Tinney was a member and past president of the Lubbock Women's Club and was a board member of the League of Women Voters. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Lubbock, where she was a faithful lay leader for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Tinney, and a daughter, Marilyn.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Robert W. Tinney and wife of Silver Spring, Md.; two grandsons, William Michael and John Stephen Tinney of Fort Worth; and a sister-in-law, Pat Jordan of Lubbock.
