Born to parents Edwin William Bentley & Elizabeth Cullington Bentley in Dulwich, Brough of Lambeth, South of London. Baptized at West Dulwich Emmanuel Church of England at the age of 3 yrs old(April 24, 1898). William left England in 1914, moving to Ottawa, Canada. In 1916, he enlisted in the Canadian Expeditonary Forces and served in a Field Ambulance Unit during WWI. In 1921, he moved from Canada to the U.S. where he met & married Margaret Johnstone. They had 3 children: Dorothy, Robert & Edwin. William passed from Leukemia on New Years Eve, just 6 days before his 88th birthday. He is burried adjacent to his wife of 58 years, Margaret.
