Helen Schweitzer, age 83, passed away June 22, 2011, in Peoria, Ariz. She was born May 6, 1928, in Canewdon, England, to Harry and Helen Woolf.
She grew up near the mouth of the Thames River (which was used as a landmark for Allied and German bombers during WWII) before moving to America in 1946.
In 1979, she married Denny, the love of her life. She has said, life saved the best for last. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, and was an avid knitter. Helen has always been known for her kindness, unselfishness, generosity, understanding and sense of humor. Not too long after retiring, they took a journey that led them back to England, Scotland and Wales to enjoy the beauty of the land she had left long ago.
Helen is survived by her husband, Denny; sons Warner and Christopher; daughters Eleanor, Laura and Mary; brother Ernest; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Harry and Alex; and sister Mary.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Heritage Memory Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave., Prescott, Ariz.
