FREMONT: Kristina Huy, 88 of Fremont passed away Monday morning at The Willows in Bellevue, Ohio. She was born July 23, 1923 in Woljowira, Yugoslavia; the daughter of Jacob and Wilhelmina Eppler. On September 25, 1941 she married Peter Huy. At the end of WWII she was interred with her children in a concentration camp for almost four years where the family escaped to settle in Austria. Together they emigrated to the United States in 1952 under the sponsorship of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Kristina loved everyone she met. The focus of her life was her children and grandchildren. Kristina had a strong faith in Jesus Christ, enjoyed baking, cooking and gardening. She and her husband kept the German traditions alive making their own sausage, sauerkraut and wine. She is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Peter Huy and her daughters Hilda (Robert) Feduik of Fremont, OH and Hermina (Richard) Friedmann of Rock Springs, GA; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and niece, Katherina Kozak of Fremont, OH. She was preceded in death by her sons, Peter and Anton Huy. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M.on Saturday, September 17, 2011 from St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 902 E. State Street, Fremont, OH. Funeral services will begin at 11:00A.M. with Pastor Keith Koppenhofer officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
