Maria Lawrence was born in Adams County, Ohio, August 30, 1825, and died in Washington C. H., Ohio December 7, 1902, having attained unto the ripe old age of 77 years 3 months and 7 days. She was married to George Dunlap in 26 Aug 1844 in Highland Co, with whom she lived for 53 years, he having preceded her to that better land on Oct. 31, 1897. To them were born ten children, five boys and five girls, all of whom survive except two daughters, Julia Etta, who died April 29, 1896, and Priscilla May who followed her sister into the great
beyond on July 28 of the same year.
She was converted and united with the church in early life. Having lived faithfully all these years in the church militant, she has gone to join the church triumphant, where with all the redeemed she will unite her voice in praise to Him who has redeemed them. While not especially active in church work, she was one of those choice spirits who give testimony by their consistent lives. Her life was gentle and many were the hearts made glad by her kind and loving deeds for those in need. She will be missed by her children and especially so in the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. C. Kesler, near Lexington, with whom she lived after her husband's death and where the funeral services were held on Monday, Dec. 8 at 2 P.M., conducted by Rev. C. C. Peale. Interment at Locust Grove Cemetery.
Her room is vacant; no more will it her presence fill. Seek her not there, but strive to join her in those mansions of which our Saviour spoke, in the city of God.
