Nels Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nels Peterson was born in Denmark March 6, 1848 and died December 14, 1930. At age of 18, he came to Utica, Ne York from Denmark. Two years later moved to Racine and married Inger Bertha Johnson. To this union were born 12 children, 9 sons and 3 daughters. Three of which preceded him in death.
For many years he has been an active member of the Methodist Church. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, two daughters , Mrs Will Montgomery of Hinsdale, Montana, and Mrs. Sid Lloyd of Oxford; seven sons, Henry, Andrew, Joseph, Oliver and Fred of Oxford, Nels of Kilbourn and Will of Hinsdale, Montana, 55 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. His only brother and sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterians Church of Oxford by Rev. Will Kielhorn, pastor of the church and interment was made at Lakeview Cemetery.
Children: Peter, Bertha, Frank, Henry, Hannah Montgomery, Nels, Andrew, Joseph, Willie, Oliver, Frederick (See Memorial # 11006895), and Laura.
