Last Tuesday night at 12 o'clock Mr. Louis Kissner of Rice Lake, died of dropsy of the heart, aged 70 years, 3 months and 1 day. The funeral will take place from the house Friday about noon. Rev. F.W. Klein of Owatonna will conduct the services. The remains will be interred in Forest Hill Cemetery. Mr. Kissner was a good citizen and was very highly respected by all who knew him. -- People's Press (Steele County) April 22, 1887

Ludwig married in 1839 his brother's widow, Augusta Gronke who had two children, August and Charles. Ludwig and Augusta produced seven more children and emigrated from Ratschin, Prussia (now Raczyn Poland) July 1862. The children are: Albertina (Wiese), Frederick, Wilhelmina (Redetzke), William, Theodore, Herman, and Augusta (Utecht). They initially settled in the farming community around Milwaukee WI, eventually moving to Rice County, MN near Owatonna. Most of his children moved to the Sleepy Eye MN area. After Ludwig's death Augusta lived with children at Sleepy Eye and Echo MN. She died in 1905 and is buried in the Echo City Cemetery.
