Retired Farmer Is Laid To Rest Following Rites

Valdres, Wis.---Last rites for Ernst Pleuss, age 80, retired farmer and lifelong resident of Manitowoc county, who passed away April 2, at his homestead farm near Brown's Corner on Highway 151, were conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at the Urbanek, Wattawa and Schlei Funeral home in Manitowoc and at 2 p.m. at the First German Evangelical Lutheran church in that city by the Rev. L. H. Koeninger. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery in Manitowoc.

Deceased was born in 1861, a few miles east of Valders, in the town of Liberty, and when a young man took up farming. In 1885, he was married to Miss Martha Lindemann and the couple located on the present homestead in the township of Manitowoc Rapids. He retired from active farming several years ago. His wife preceded him in death in 1931. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Emil Hecker, on the homestead, four sons, Carl and Lewis of Newton, Edwin and Junias of Manitowoc; 11 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
