Christine Czeczok died on May 5, 2005, at her home after a short, courageous battle with cancer. She was 87.

Christine was born on August 19, 1917, at Zeeland, North Dakota, the daughter of Joseph and Eva (Baumgartner) Hartze. She was raised and educated in Zeeland. Christine moved to Bismarck, North Dakota when she was 19 where she met the love of her life, Herb. She worked for Frank's Restaurant for several years. She married Herb on November 17th, 1941. They farmed southeast of Bismarck until 1976 when they retired and moved to Bismarck.

Christine and Herb traveled extensively, camping, fishing, and visiting family and friends. Christine was an active swimmer and took long daily walks. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, playing cards, and dancing. She was very active in the community where she was 4-H leader, a member of the homemaker's club, and volunteered at St. Mary's Carnival for 28 years.

Christine was a kind, loving, and caring person who always thought of everyone before herself. Everyone was always welcome in her kitchen. Christine had many, many friends, some for more than 65 years. People who came to know Christine benefited greatly from this relationship. Even on her death bed, she was concerned whether her family would be able to accept her death, and provided warmth and comfort to her family.

Christine is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert of Duluth, Minnesota, Larry and Karen of Lincoln, and Alfred and Elaine of Bismarck; and two daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta and Ed Movchan of Mandan, and Renae and Harold Freuer of Beulah. She is also survived by one sister, Clara Huber of Herried, South Dakota; seventeen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herb; two sisters, Katie Salwei and Bernie Kendall; and five infant brothers.
