From the Morganton Herald, June 1891:

"Mrs. John M. Scott, of Irish Creek, this county, died very suddenly last Sunday night of heart failure it is supposed. Death came to her so quietly that none of the family were arroused, and she had probably been dead some hours before any member of the family knew it. A child 5 months old was sleeping with her. Mrs. Scott was a daughter of Mr. W.L. Allen, the postmaster at Table Rock."
