Aged Woman Dies at Home April 14
Many Attend Funeral for Mrs Bertha Meyer Thurs

Funeral services were held here Thursday for Mrs Bertha Meyer, for many years a resident of this city, who died at her home here on April 14, as the result of an attack of pneumonia and a slight paralytic stroke.
The services, held at the Meyer home on West Fourth street, were largely attended. Rev EH Mueller, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran church delivered the funeral sermon, after which interment was made in Riverview cemetery here.
Mrs Meyer, whose maiden name was Bertha Klitzke, was born on July 12, 1855, in Pommerania, Germany, and was nearly 80 years of age at the time of her death. With her parents, the young woman came to America in 1873 and the family home was made in Scott county, where two years later she married Pete Meyer, who did in January of this year.
The Meyers lived in Davenport for two years, then they moved to Ida county, where for seven years they engaged in farming. In 1882 they moved to Lyon county, and made their home on a farm near Doon until 1910, when Mr Meyer retired and moved to this city.
Mrs Meyer enjoyed excellent health until a short time before her death, and did her own work until April 8, when she became ill with pneumonia. A few days later she suffered the paralytic stroke, and on April 14 she died.
Mrs Meyer is survived by the following sons and daughters: Mrs Leonard Berg, Sr, Rock Rapids; Peter Meyer, Alvord; Mrs Amil Klitzke, Flandreau, SD; Mrs Will Evers, Denton, Mont; Mrs OS Lasby, Willmar, Minn; Mrs Carl Hasche, Watertown, SD; Mrs JE Mapes, Bee Hive, Mont; Louis Meyer, Austin, Minn; and Carl and John Meyer who farm near Doon.
Mrs Meyer is also survived by two sisters, Mrs Gusta Mayam of Clinton, and Mrs Mary Koehrsen of Walnut, and by one brother, August Klitzke of Holland, Minn.
Lockwood & Pirwitz were in charge of the funeral arrangements.
