Politician. He was a Canadian politician. A native of Saint-Henri-de-Lévis (Québec), he studied first in Saint-Vallier, and then he took an advanced course at the University of Ottawa. He was an active member of the Catholic Union of Farmers during sixteen years. He worked mostly as an insurance agent in Saint-Vallier. Starting his political career, he was elected Mayor of Saint-Vallier from 1959 to 1962. He was sent to the House of Commons by the electors of Bellechasse in 1962, but he failed to get reelected in 1963. He made a bid for the Legislative Assembly as an independent candidate in Dorchester in the provincial by-election of October 5, 1964, but he did not succeed. He failed also in 1965 to be sent back to the House of Commons as a candidate for the "Ralliement Créditiste" in the Bellechasse riding. Three years later, his tenacity prevailed when the electors of Frontenac agreed to select him, on June 25, 1968, as their representative in Ottawa under the banner of the "Ralliement Créditiste" Party. He resigned his seat when he decided to get elected to the National Assembly at the general elections of April 29, 1970: his plan worked with the electors of Mégantic, being one of the 12 "Crédististes" elected. He was defeated in 1973 and attempted vainly to be sent back to Ottawa as an independent candidate in the elections of 1974. With a decline in his mental health, he died from suicide by he drowning in the St. Lawrence River.
