Joseph Scheidt Sr., 68, of Cleveland, died on route to St. Nicholas Hospital
Monday night after being stricken with an apparent heart attack.
Born in the Town of Centerville on Sept. 23, 1900, the son of the late Henry and
Catherine Scheidt, he attended St. Wendel Catholic School.
He married the former Catherine Schwinn of Cleveland on May 3, 1927. The
couple farmed in the Town of Centerville until 1956.
Mr. Scheidt was employed as a carpenter for the Schnell Contracting Co. of
Cleveland until his retirement in 1962.
Survivors include his wife; four sons; Joseph Jr. and Eugene of Cleveland, Earl
of Sheboygan, and Adrian of Kiel; 18 grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Paul
Schwinn, of Cleveland. A daughter and brother preceded him in death.
A requiem Mass will be offered at St. Wendel's Catholic Church at 11 a.m.
Thursday with the Rev. Jerome Watry, pastor, the celebrant. Brief family rites at
Nickel's Funeral Home will precede the Mass at 10:15. Burial will be in the parish
cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. A parish and Holy
Name Society vigil will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
