LONGWOOD — Frances Rivers Stegall, 63, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011.

Mrs. Stegall was born in Eustis, and was a longtime resident of Leesburg, moving to Longwood in 1978. She was a fifth-grade teacher at Spring Lake Elementary School in Ocoee for 23 years, was awarded Reading Teacher of The Year in 2009 at Spring Lake Elementary School and also Teacher of The Year at the school in 2010, a member of the Wekiva Presbyterian Church in Longwood, active in youth and varsity sports, and enjoyed her students.

The New Spring Lake Elementary School is under construction and the Media Center will be named The Frances Stegall Media Center in honor of her 23 years of dedication and media service with her students and associates.

Survivors include her husband, Barry; sons Randy, DeLand, Chuck, Port Orange; daughter, Julie Anne Collier, Apopka; brother, Chuck Rivers, Longwood; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Beyers Funeral Home, Leesburg. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at First Presbyterian Church, Leesburg, with the Rev. Harry Disbrow officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Leesburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of The Comforter, 605 Montgomery Road, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714.

Arrangements are by Beyers Funeral Home and Crematory, Leesburg.

Comforter in Altamonte Springs, FL. She was born in Eustis, FL and was a lifelong resident of Leesburg, FL until she moved to Longwood, FL in 1978. She was a member of the Wekiva Presbyterian Church in Longwood, FL. She was a graduate of Leesburg High School and Florida State University where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Soroity. She was a fifth grade teacher at Spring Lake Elementary School at Ocoee, FL since 1988. In 2009 she was awarded Reading Teacher of The Year and in 2010 she was awarded Teacher of The Year at Spring Lake Elementary School. She was active in youth and varsity sports and enjoyed her students and family. The New Spring Lake
