VIRGINIA BEACH - Imee S. Bawalan, 54, passed away Monday, July 18, 2011 at her home. A native of the Philippines, Imee was an accountant for the New York Times and also worked for The Virginian-Pilot for 18 years. She is survived by her husband, Pip Bawalan; daughter, Lani-Lynn S. Bawalan of Virginia Beach; mother, Conchita S. Sampilo of New Jersey; three sisters, Faye S. Sampilo, Betty S. Bautista, Mae S. Sampilo, all of New Jersey; three brothers, Benny S. Sampilo Jr. of Virginia Beach, Benjamin S. Sampilo of Arizona and Rollie S. Sampilo of Texas. She was predeceased by her father, Benny Sampilo Sr. A visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. with a service at 7 p.m. today at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, with Pastor Sonny Vitalize. Burial will be private in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Union Mission.
