Wife of the famed "Little Bugler" Gustav Schurmann, Mrs. Schurmann was 53 years old at the time of her death. Born Anastasia Quinlan, she had wed the 21-year old Civil War veteran on March 1, 1870. Their only child, a daughter named Lillian, was born the following year. After nearly 35 years of married life in New York City, the couple were parted by death in 1905, Mrs. Schurmann predeceasing her husband by 2 months. The Schurmanns were survived by their 33-year-old daughter, Lillian Schurmann Wassman, also buried here.
