Sarah was the daughter of Pauline Jennings and Samuel Bennett. Mr. Bennett was recognized by the Sons of the American Revolution as a Patriot. His S.A.R. number is 19255.
Mr. Bennett was born in Fairfield, Conn. on Oct 17, 1755 and he died in Perinton, New York on August 28, 1819.

Samuel enlisted at Stratford, Connecticut, 20 June 1776 in Capt. Able's Company, Colonel Bradley's Battalion, Wadsworth's Brigade, which was raised for the defense of the state. He was stationed mostly at Fort Lee under General Green and the early part of November was sent across to help in the defense of Fort Washington. On the fall of that fort, 16 November 1776, he was taken prisoner by the British with the entire garrison and marched into New York, where he was held in the prison ship "Grovesnor" and later transferred to the "Sugar House".

His daughter Sarah, married Ezra Perrin on February 21, 1813. The couple moved to Portland, Michigan in 1834.

Daughter Eliza Ann Perrin married George Alfred Chipman. Daughter Clarissa Perrin married John Marshall Chipman. Daughter Helen married William Mather. Son William interned with parents. Research continues on son Edward A. Perrin.

Sarah Bennett Perrin died in Portland, Michigan on November 22, 1855. Ledger page 324; Record number 262, date of records June 6, 1886. (Source: Gendis).

The Portland Cemetery book states "front side of stone, DAR plaque which reads "Sarah Bennett Perrin, Daughter of a Revolutionary soldier presented by the Sophie D. Marsac Campau Chapter D.A.R."

Note: Tombstone is 4x4 sided sandstone with plaque and names on front and on sides. There is also a small stone Sarah B.. Sextants records spelled name "Sara."
